Ultimate Ways To Make Glue Without Flour

How to make glue at home without flour?

As an enthusiastic DIY lover, I always try to make something new and glue is almost mandatory to make those things.

So, I researched and excelled in making glue without flour in the simplest of ways. These methods are-

1. Using Cornstarch

Cornstarch is full of high-quality carbohydrates which ones heated in high temperature becomes extremely sticky and forms an extremely solid adhesive.

Below is the step by step guide to making glue with cornstarch.

Things You Will Need

  • Two tablespoons of cornstarch
  • Two tablespoons of corn syrup
  • One spoon of vinegar
  • One cup of cold water
  • One cup of hot water

Process

  1. Take a saucepan or bowl. Put vinegar, corn syrup and hot water together.
  2. Stir the mixture well for few minutes.
  3. Boil the mixture in full heat for some minutes; approximately 2-3 minutes.
  4. Take another bowl to mix the cornstarch and the cold water.
  5. Stir it until it forms a smooth solution.
  6. Then slowly mix this solution with the previously made corn syrup and vinegar solution.
  7. Heat it for one or two minutes more.
  8. Lastly, allow it to cool down and store the glue in an airtight container.

2. Using Milk

You can actually use milk and other kitchen ingredients to make glue without any flour. It is non-toxic and so is more user-friendly.

Process

  1. Pour the dry milk into the hot water (Alternatively you might use warm liquid milk).
  2. Pour the vinegar in the milk and start stirring the mixture.
  3. Some chemical reactions will take place to separate the milk into whey and curds. It happens because vinegar contains citric acid and it starts a chemical reaction with the bacteria in the milk causing the separation of milk into curds and whey.
  4. Instead of stopping keep stirring the mixture until the milk is fully separated.
  5. Use a soft paper towel or tea filter to filter the mixture. Keep the curd for further process and store the whey as you want.
  6. Then mix the curd with warm water and baking soda. The baking soda will react with the vinegar in the curd and form a foaming state.
  7. Store the glue in a container and keep it in the refrigerator to get an extended lifetime. These are the two easiest ways to make glue without using any flour. There are other processes available but they are either time consuming or ineffective. These two ways will not only save some bucks but also will add fun in your monotonous life.
